With careful attention to Federal, State and Gastroenterology Society Guidelines, Acadiana Gastroenterology Associates will resume scheduling time sensitive health preserving procedures and evaluations including colon screening, surveillance, hemorrhoidal bandings, dysphagia, bleeding, unexplained anemias, weight loss, symptoms failing to respond to conservative management, etc. at our outpatient ambulatory endoscopy center and office.
The safe conduction of office visits and procedures with a minimum of patient inconvenience is our primary goal.
The patient will be asked to present individually for procedures or visits while the accompanying family member remains outside the building in all but exceptional circumstances. The patients will be asked to respond to a series of screening questions relative to possible COVID exposure, travel, etc. There will be “at the door” on site screening for the presence of an unexplained temp >100.3, unexplained cough, etc. The patient is asked to wear a mask and will need to arrange for appropriate post visit or procedural transportation if indicated. Initial results of the procedure or office visit will be shared if requested with interested family at time of discharge from the facility via telephone.
We anticipate resuming non-emergent in office visits, June 1, 2020 for patients. The same degree of pre-visit screening will occur. We will limit the number of patients in the waiting room with appropriate social distancing and we ask all to mask. We strongly recommend scheduling a telemedicine visit, which in most instances offers you the patient the opportunity to be evaluated sooner by a physician or physician extender.
Thank you for your support and understanding during this most unique of times. We will continue to meet future challenges while we deliver our personal brand of gastroenterology and hepatology care that you come to expect! Welcome back aboard!
